I am using the Gentran5.1 for Windows.

Issue I am facing is when ever I receive the Purchase order, we are having an issue translating the file because of ISA11. The value on this element is “|”.
and the Element separtor for the 850 file is "|".

When I am translating the file I am getting compliance error.

Is there any turnaround to make this run without errors.
I thought other members would benefit from taking a look at the Perceptant website (http://www.perceptant.com).

We signed up with them a few months ago and have found their SaaS EDI offering to be reliable, scalable and cost effective.

It's very different from locally installed software though in so much as it's hosted, configured and supported on behalf of customers and they perform all mappings and translations (any to any) for a fixed fee.

We're now able to set-up new trading relationships within a matter of days and the folks there take care of all the heavy lifting. In addtion it'll run over VAN's, AS2, HTTPS, FTP etc with no traffic related charges (unlimited volumes) so we now know exactly what our monthly charges are.

They're certainly worth a look if you're considering a fully managed service and/or want a low cost entry point solution for your trading community.

There’s an easier way than this. Just put your file name into the RemoteFileName parameter when you do your FTP Put:
Â*
Â*Â*Â* <operation name="FTP Client PUT Service">
Â*Â*Â*Â*Â* <participant name="FTPClientPut"/>
Â*Â*Â*Â*Â* <output message="FTPClientPutService TypeInputMessage">
Â*Â*Â*Â*Â*Â*Â* <assign to="ConnectionType">PASSIVE</assign>
Â*Â*Â*Â*Â*Â*Â* <assign to="DelayWaitingOnIO">-1</assign>
Â*Â*Â*Â*Â*Â*Â* <assign to="RemoteFileName">RemoteFilename</assign>
Â*Â*Â*Â*Â*Â*Â* <assign to="RepresentationType">A</assign>
Â*Â*Â*Â*Â*Â*Â* <assign to="SessionToken" from="/ProcessData/ FTPClientBeginSe ssionServiceResu lts/SessionToken /text()"></assign>
Â*Â*Â*Â*Â*Â*Â* <assign to="UseDocBodyName">YES</assign>
Â*Â*Â*Â*Â*Â*Â* <assign to="." from="*"></assign>
Â*Â*Â*Â*Â* </output>
Â*Â*Â*Â*Â* <input message="inmsg">
Â*Â*Â*Â*Â*Â*Â* <assign to="." from="*"></assign>
Â*Â*Â*Â*Â* </input>
Â*Â*Â* </operation>
Â*
You can change the document body name and use it for your FTP Put with the Get Doc Info service thusly:
Â*
Â*Â*Â* <assign name="Assign" to="tempfile" from="concat (/ProcessData/ time/text( ),&apos;.new&apos;)"></assign>
Â*Â*Â* <operation name="Set File Name">
Â*Â*Â*Â*Â* <participant name="GetDocumentInfoServ ice"/>
Â*Â*Â*Â*Â* <output message="GetDocumentInfoServ iceTypeInputMess age">
Â*Â*Â*Â*Â*Â*Â* <assign to="BodyName" from="/ProcessData/ tempfile/ text()"></assign>
Â*Â*Â*Â*Â*Â*Â* <assign to="doClone">true</assign>
Â*Â*Â*Â*Â*Â*Â* <assign to="PrimaryDocument" from="/ProcessData/ PrimaryDocument/ @*"></assign>
Â*Â*Â*Â*Â* </output>
Â*Â*Â*Â*Â* <input message="inmsg">
Â*Â*Â*Â*Â*Â*Â* <assign to="." from="PrimaryDocument"></assign>
Â*Â*Â*Â*Â* </input>
Â*Â*Â* </operation>
Â*
If you change the Body Doc name you shouldn’t have to use the UseRemoteFileName parameter on the FTP Put. But the UseRemoteFileName parameter is probably the easiest way to go. Good luck. ejh.
Hello again,Â*I’m still having an issue with renaming an outbound FTP file in GIS.Â* I tried your suggestion of using the GetDocumentInformat ionService but it’s not changing the name.Â* This is in the business process after the file has been translated; a subprocess after the GetDocumentInformat ionServices performs the FTP. Â*Also, there is logic in the map that creates the desired filename (vendor ID + current date) and maps it to Xpath ProcessData\ FileName. Â*Â*Would you be able to look at the logic below and let me know where I’m going wrong?Â* I would really appreciate it.Â*Thanks,NancyÂ*Â*Â*Â*Â*Â*Â*Â*Â* Â*<operation name="Get Document Information Service">Â*Â*Â*Â*Â*Â*Â*Â*Â*Â*Â* <participant name="GetDocumentInfoServ ice"/>Â*Â*Â*Â*Â*Â*Â*Â*Â*Â*Â* <output message="GetDocumentInfoServ iceTypeInputMess age">Â*Â*Â*Â*Â*Â*Â*Â*Â*Â*Â*Â*Â* <assign to="DocumentName">ProcessData\ FileName\ text()</assign>Â*Â*Â*Â*Â*Â*Â*Â*Â*Â*Â*Â*Â* <assign to="."

Yes it is. And there are a couple of ways. If you’re sending by FTP or SFTP to send, you just use your filename from ProcessData in the RemoteFileName field of the service configuration (or its BPML equivalent if you prefer to write code).
Â*
There’s also a document service (Get Document Information Service) that you can use to get information about a document and to change certain key values about the document. It’s documented in the Adapters and Services manual. I’ve used it to change doc information and it works. If you change the document name, without giving it a filename, the doc name becomes the file name when you send.
Â*
Good luck. ejh.
Hello,
Â*
I hope that someone can help me with the renaming of an outbound file in GIS.Â* We use GIS 4.3.
Â*
I tried writing an extended rule in the map that assigns a value to ProcessData/ FileName.Â* How do I then use the value assigned to ProcessData/ FileName to create an outbound file that uses this value for the file name? Â*Is this possible?
There's an easier way than this. Just put your file name into the
RemoteFileName parameter when you do your FTP Put:

<operation name="FTP Client PUT Service">

<participant name="FTPClientPut"/>

<output message="FTPClientPutService TypeInputMessage">

<assign to="ConnectionType">PASSIVE</assign>

<assign to="DelayWaitingOnIO">-1</assign>

<assign to="RemoteFileName">RemoteFilename</assign>

<assign to="RepresentationType">A</assign>

<assign to="SessionToken" from="/ProcessData/ FTPClientBeginSe
ssionServiceResu lts/SessionToken /text()"></assign>

<assign to="UseDocBodyName">YES</assign>

<assign to="." from="*"></assign>

</output>

<input message="inmsg">

<assign to="." from="*"></assign>

</input>

</operation>

You can change the document body name and use it for your FTP Put with the
Get Doc Info service thusly:

<assign name="Assign" to="tempfile" from="concat (/ProcessData/
time/text( ),&apos;.new&apos;)"></assign>

<operation name="Set File Name">

<participant name="GetDocumentInfoServ ice"/>

<output message="GetDocumentInfoServ iceTypeInputMess age">

<assign to="BodyName" from="/ProcessData/ tempfile/
text()"></assign>

<assign to="doClone">true</assign>

<assign to="PrimaryDocument" from="/ProcessData/ PrimaryDocument/
@*"></assign>

</output>

<input message="inmsg">

<assign to="." from="PrimaryDocument"></assign>

</input>

</operation>

If you change the Body Doc name you shouldn't have to use the
UseRemoteFileName parameter on the FTP Put. But the UseRemoteFileName
parameter is probably the easiest way to go. Good luck. ejh.
Hello again,

I'm still having an issue with renaming an outbound FTP file in GIS. I
tried your suggestion of using the GetDocumentInformat ionService but it's
not changing the name. This is in the business process after the file has
been translated; a subprocess after the GetDocumentInformat ionServices
performs the FTP.

Also, there is logic in the map that creates the desired filename (vendor ID
+ current date) and maps it to Xpath ProcessData\ FileName.

Would you be able to look at the logic below and let me know where I'm going
wrong? I would really appreciate it.

Yes it is. And there are a couple of ways. If you're sending by FTP or SFTP
to send, you just use your filename from ProcessData in the RemoteFileName
field of the service configuration (or its BPML equivalent if you prefer to
write code).

There's also a document service (Get Document Information Service) that you
can use to get information about a document and to change certain key values
about the document. It's documented in the Adapters and Services manual.
I've used it to change doc information and it works. If you change the
document name, without giving it a filename, the doc name becomes the file
name when you send.

Good luck. ejh.
Hello,

I hope that someone can help me with the renaming of an outbound file in
GIS. We use GIS 4.3.

I tried writing an extended rule in the map that assigns a value to
ProcessData/ FileName. How do I then use the value assigned to ProcessData/
FileName to create an outbound file that uses this value for the file name?
Is this possible?

Thanks,
The way I do it is with the map I can find the TP code. From the TP code I can
grep for the TP in the .l files in the temp dir, run transrpt or query the life
cycle data base to see if it's an active partner and map.

Hello again,

I'm still having an issue with renaming an outbound FTP file in GIS. I
tried your suggestion of using the GetDocumentInformationService but it's
not changing the name. This is in the business process after the file has
been translated; a subprocess after the GetDocumentInformationServices
performs the FTP.

Also, there is logic in the map that creates the desired filename (vendor ID
+ current date) and maps it to Xpath ProcessData\FileName.

Would you be able to look at the logic below and let me know where I'm going
wrong? I would really appreciate it.

Thanks,
Nancy

<operation name="Get Document Information Service">
<participant name="GetDocumentInfoService"/>
<output message="GetDocumentInfoServiceTypeInputMessage">
<assign to="DocumentName">ProcessData\FileName\text()</assign>
<assign to="." from="*"></assign>
</output>
<input message="inmsg">
<assign to="." from="*"></assign>
</input>
</operation>

I tried writing an extended rule in the map that assigns a value to
ProcessData/FileName. How do I then use the value assigned to
ProcessData/FileName to create an outbound file that uses this value for the
file name? Is this possible?

Thanks,
